Default When mares get shiny and less wrinkled "back there"...

Is there a general sort is guideline as to when she might have the foal?

Last night my mare did a lot is tail swishing, holding it crooked and looking at her side.

This morning she is shiny and less wrinkled back there under her tail. She is also deflated, slab sided looking.

I was thinking the foal was getting into position.

Her due date is today. No hope is testing milk, she won't let me anywhere near that area to test so I have to go by other signs?

So, is there a general guideline for when these signs happen as to when foal might come?

Unfortunately, you mare could be pulling a quick one on you too...

My mare's vulva started looking less wrinkled at 300 days, she's at 324 now. She has a bit of that look too and she is getting jello-ish around the tailhead.

All this to say, it could mean she is getting good to go soon or not.

Well I am not going to be much help because I would figure out a way to get milk out of her. I don't take kindly to my animals telling me no. Best of luck to you both, hope she goes soon. What day is she today?

I think she sounds very "ready". I find the shiny coat, the long vulva, and a tail with no "clamp" power, when combined, mean foaling is imminent. (And they make a fool of me repeatedly).
Hope you are right, and we get word of your foal within the next day or two.
(I'm watching 2 gals -- who still have entirely too much clamp in their tails, though one's coat condition says she is getting there.)

My mare has been doing all of the above and some extra moves for the last 20 days !
Every night I think this is it, but it isn't ! 350 days !
    Good luck !

If she won't let you milk her, will she let the foal? Just curious, I've always wondered this when people mention mares not letting them get milk to test.

Oh yes. She's a great mom. She's just not a people person but her babies are. They love people. She was never handled before I got her I think I overcompinsate with them and handle them constantly.
