I'm right there with you on that one War Admiral! I have a severe aversion to:

Wildly colored or patterned anything. Saddles pads, wraps, sleezy's, helmets and covers, britches, etc, etc, etc.

Ear nets. Everyone in my family thinks they're just the coolest thing, especially when in wacky colors. I have one, a black one. We only use it on really gnat-y days to keep the bugs out of her ears.

A GPA. (or the newer hideously colored CO's) Hubby has seen the many pics in mags of people with skunk helmets on and hinted I might find one under the tree. I hinted back I wouldn't wear it.

Cob sized halters. I get those as occassional gifts. For my 17h wb. They fit my dog okay though. http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_c...on_biggrin.gif

But the big one for me is anything wildly or hideously colored...find it in Navy please. http://chronicleforums.com/images/cu...milies/yes.gif

OK, send me all of your "Wildly colored or patterned anything". I *LOFF* that stuff. I know, kind of sad for someone my age. http://chronicleforums.com/images/custom_smilies/no.gif
What I could do without... sweatshirts and tee shirts with horses on them. Got plenty. Am too old to wear them out and about. Don't need more barn attire.

Any horse book that is bookmarked to the page with the vet's arm shoved you-know-where as s/he palpates a mare.

    Anything in neon.

Clothes with outrageous horse prints on them or any accessories that were bought just because they were 'horsey'.

    No thanks.

Twinkle Nose, Hoof Sparklers and anything else w/glitter on it!

For some reason last year, a few people decided that my Belgian would look "cute" with sparkly stuff gooed all over his body.

Just because I let his forelock grow down to his nostrils doesnt mean he has to look like My Little Pony In Drag! Sheesh!

I don't even need to write it out because I won't be getting any of this, but- clothes, like sweaters with big horse heads on them, breeches in brands I don't like, model horses, horsey jewelry....except I like bit stuff.

Saddle pads would be cool, especially in some kind of interesting fabric, or what about a purple fuzzy cooler with a fabu boa....I'm gonna make one, you just wait and see..... http://chronicleforums.com/images/cu...s/winkgrin.gif

Knick-knacks! I hate anything that serves no purpose and needs dusting. I run a knick-knack free zone (try to) and yet receive little 'things' to clutter up my space. Please spare me the little glass horse heads or some gnome riding a pony.

I'm still trying to get over the horse head slippers from my brother that neighed when you pressed the ear! Ick! Gave them to my dogs for toys. http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_c...on_biggrin.gif

My favorite? Perplexing gifts from the wrong discipline...

I once opened a gift from a friend who was SO excited to have gotten me something horsey (she's not at all horsey). It was ***drumroll*** um, leather? Um, a leather and a neoprene band? Um, what is this... She beamed "I went to Stateline and went to the back, like you said, and picked this out because I know you don't have one."

She bought him a NECK SWEAT!!!! She thought it was some part of the bridle that I had been missing all these years. A NECK SWEAT!!!

    ~Veronica

P.S.- I also hate things with Arabians running on them (stop running dammit!) but I LOVE wild colored polos and pads-- just for schooling.

Calendars with any kind of black horse running through fields.

    Horsey Socks.

Polo Wraps of any kind (40 or so pairs are plenty).

Cowboy Hat (do I look like a cowgirl for some reason??).

    Anything that glitters.

And here another BBer (who shall remain nameless) http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_c...on_biggrin.gif was trying to get me to buy the purple or gold glittery splint boots for my SO's BLACK gelding. I think he would have shot me..... http://chronicleforums.com/images/cu...milies/lol.gif

Fleur, it's a joke. Stoney has an unnatural affection for one of the other geldings so we joke that they have a little romance going on. So of COURSE he'd want to display his pride loudly with rainbow colored polos/ pads etc.

P.S.- I am going to see if I can erase the original comment because maybe it'll come off as offensive even though I was only kidding

Mrs. Patures, Stud Muffins and other horse cookie treats. The mare won't touch them.

The dogs will eat them though--and then get sick.
