    Default Indoor/Outdoor Arena Footing

Here are a couple of questions for barn managers and boarders:

What is the footing in your indoor and/or outdoor arena?

If it isn't your "dream" footing, what would would be, if you could have any footing you wanted?

Our arena is both in/out. 1/2 is under roof/enclosed. Hard to describe.

Anyway, the footing obviously has to be the same for both parts. It is 1/3 concrete (C-33) sand, 1/3 screenings (called blue stone or crushed limestone in other areas) and 1/3 Permaflex shredded rubber.
    I LOVE it.

Oh, and a 9" compacted screenings base that drains to one outside corner. With french drains installed around the outdoor perimeter.

Did I mention I love it?

I would like the OTTO footing that they had at KHP for an indoor please. I would do the jumper mix though vs. the dressage.

Ours for both arenas is washed river sand and wood chips. Works well for us.

    Re sand.
Definitely get something that is cleaned! Not just plain fill sand. Too many fines = dust.
So go with washed river sand or concrete sand. Don't get mortor sand.
