What an impressive looking mare. Love her kind eye, and the width of her forehead. And she looks massive in her travelin' outfit!

OMG she looks huge - I read somewhere that she is a big girl- they mentioned her weight; anyone know how tall she is?

Watched the video. Looked like mare and jockey were just going along, la la la, just another leg stretching.

OK, not so huge - the person holding her must be short; or maybe its the camera angle.

Agreed that she looks - next to that handler - to be 18hands ... perhaps its just the suit

Video: Her vet, Peter Angus, interviewed - see at 1-min mark her walking into Newmarket home (her compression suit since removed)

    Yep - very cool!

Also the Herald Sun has a video of her work plus a bigger picture of that classic black taxi now salmon pink and black spots. Evidently its quite a hit there in London

After the sensational Frankel effort on opening day of Royal Ascot the "Wonder From Down Under" will have a lot of pressure to deliver this Saturday.

The ABC "An Australian Story" aired this story about her on monday night. I believe this is the second story they have done on her but haven't looked for the first ( aired a few months ago perhaps after her 18th win) yet.

Here is the recent story. Was very interesting with talking to her breeder and how he came to own her dam, where she grew up, her siblings (and half siblings) and some about her in England.

    http://www.abc.net.au/austory/specia...en/default.htm

    Enjoy!

Will be staying up super late saturday to watch her!

I was considering going to see her race on Saturday (I live in London)

Does anyone know if you can just show up for a race meet like this- like how tickets work? I haven't ever been to any UK racetracks and I'm not sure if its like a TC type thing where it sells out way ahead of time, or not...

I was under the impression the event was sold out with 80,000+ strong and the Aussie contingent likely a highly vocal 10%+ of that audience. Is there an equivalent type of service like Craig's list in London? My guess is that some folks planned to go but won't be able to but would resell their tix.

During TVG's Royal Ascot coverage here in the States they made the remark that Black Caviar at Newmarket has been getting in some swim training as of late (A pic of her back in Oz doing the same and the remark from observers were that she's best swimmer they've seen at the English facility But of course!

    Her twitter feed:

Prince Charles was given at Ascot a tie bearing her racing colors.

The unbeaten "Wonder from Down Under", as she has been dubbed by the English press, has attracted the interest of Prince Charles and his wife Camilla.

They asked to meet members of the Black Caviar owners' syndicate on Tuesday, the first day of Royal Ascot race week. Prince Charles was presented with one of "Nelly's" salmon and polka dot ties.

Part owner Jill Taylor said the invitation to meet the royal couple in the parade ring after the Prince had presented the trophy for the St James's Palace Stakes arrived on Monday evening and took the Black Caviar team by surprise.

"We selected the four men (Colin Madden, Gary Wilkie, Neil Werrett and David Taylor) and Pam Hawkes and the rest of us went to the mounting yard to watch," Mrs Taylor said.

"When the introductions were done they wanted to speak to all of us.

"They were very personable and very warm and chatted freely. They knew a lot about Black Caviar and wished us luck for the race."

    Nellie gets heightened security!

June 21, 2012 "Black Caviar under 24-hour guard"

Two stablehands breached security in the stables of champion Australian racehorse Black Caviar in England, forcing a 24-hour guard and extra measures to be put in place ahead of her race debut at Royal Ascot on Saturday.

The men tried to take pictures of themselves with the world's best sprinter after entering her stable at Abington Place, near Newmarket racecourse, in England.

Tony Haydon, Moody's stable foreman who traveled from Australia with Black Caviar, said Thursday night every precaution was put in place to ensure the mare's safety. After the initial security breach they decided to "take no chances with stable security."

The Diamond Jubilee Stakes - Race 3 - off at approx 10:45pm Eastern

Look for George Strawbridge Jr's Aiken to take the 2nd race (Grade 2) Harwicke Stakes.

(pdf) The pp's for Saturday's races

Look for another of George's horses, Moonlight Cloud, breaking next to BC to be her biggest threat.

Did he mistake the winning line? I'm not joking, it actually seemed like he stopped riding a few strides short of the line...

You fly 10,000 miles around the world, your jockey makes a ROYAL cock-up, and you still manage to win.
    Yeah, she's some mare.

She just granted an audience to Queen Liz in the winner's enclosure. I m sure we'll see plenty of pictures of that moment.

Looks like he got confused on where the line was. Surprised he wouldn't do a practice ride on another horse.

Love that the Queen got to meet her!

But a win is a win!

Just watching the interviews now, class act from both Luke and Peter!

We are proud of you Nelly!

Sure looks like Nolan was unclear where the wire was...
What an amazing horse to gear back up and go on for him.
