    Can't wait to get the full article, but if they're using "cardiac failure" as a major cause of death without specifics, we're going to be no better off than we are with "heart attack".

    I got the full article since the topic is uncomfortably close to home for me. They list 5 different types of "cardiac and/or pulmonary failure", 5 types of "CNS trauma", 4 types of "haemorrhagic shock" and then various combinations thereof and unexplained incidents. Very interesting read, but mostly a survey and no attempt to make causal inferences.
