    It looks like the lad is off to the side and examining Gimcrack's rear hock. I posted the store elsewhere with a larger version of the image.

    The painting is 6' wide and actually comprises two scenes: one showing Gimcrack winning to the right, and outside his stable on left with jockey, trainer and stable-lad.

    Gimcrack was a tough little horse (14hh) who was noted as very popular with the racing public of the time. If someone doesn't have $32M+ USD for the real work you can always buy a repro: $149.95 USD for example
