Just an FYI... I just sent the current leaderboard standings to the Area chairman... they should be posted on the website soon. Points are as of today and include results from Spring Bay, Rolex, Winona, Mayfest and IEA. I know a couple people/horses names here so here's what I know so far:

Hi Heather. Thanks... you were one (of MANY I'm sure) that I wasn't sure where to put you so you got put in the Open -- which means you won't show up on the lists in the correct place when they get uploaded to the Area VIII site. BUT... given that I now know your AA status (thank you)... you are officially in a tie for 8th on the AA ROY list (with 4 points). That also puts you just outside the top 20 on the Training list. congrats! and keep up the good work!!

PS -- I'm officially soliciting award program sponsors!!! We've expanded the program a LOT this year and will need some help to give out the number of awards and ribbons that we want to -- afterall, we put so much into the sport we should get something back if possible, right?? If you'd like to sponsor a specific division or award, that's great...if you want to help out tremendously and just be a "general" award sponsor (with a monetary donation), that would be GREAT too!! Specific awards can include certain divisions or awards like AA Rider of the Year, Stallion/Gelding of the Year, etc.

We're also starting to take nominations (must include a narrative on "Why") for Volunteer of the Year awards.

That's great--thanks for the update TLE! Congrats to all of you that I know: Delta Wave (WOW!), Mickey 87, annikak AND those that I don't (but I will hopefully meet at future events)! I know I got a few points at Winona, but I got more this weekend at Encore. Maybe after those points are in, I'll be in the top 50? http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_c...n_rolleyes.gif . . . Anyway--how do we officially register as an AA? Or do we just let you know?

Wow! http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_c...on_biggrin.gif That's great news! I picked up 4pts at Derbyshire also, so that should help the cause. I have never been on the leaderboard before! Maybe the years of hard work is finally paying off!!

As far as helping with awards...being that I am the typical poor horse person...I would be better able to help in some way than donate $$. Does Area 8 have their own awards dinner or is it part of the National Convention?

Basically, yeah... just let me know. IF participation allows, BN-T will be split JR, Senior Ammy, and Open. P-A will be split by YR, Adult Ammy, and Open. The ROY awards will be split Jr/YR, AA and Open. Basically, if I don't know, you end up in Open.

Mickey... there will be an Area meeting that will have the awards presentation as part of it. I'm hoping that by having a leaderboard AND having some new awards, we can generate more interest in attending. Last year was really bad... even with having it in conjunction with the Midsouth meeting (not one person outside organizers from MidSouth attended any of the Area meeting... it was really sad). I'm sure we'll need some help when it comes down to planning and holding the meeting!

Oh and, ahem . . . I believe that I once indicated that I would be interested in helping sponsor an award. Could you let me know the cost involved with this? I haven't done anything like this before so I just have no idea if we are talking $40 or $400! How does that sound? I haven't totally worked out the details on how much equals sponsorship yet. I need to see what the price of ribbons are and a general idea of what we spent on the winners' awards last year. I will contribute fundage as well or tack/horse clothing type stuff (embroidered saddle pads/sheets are always great). I won't steal the mare award from you though. I'm sure there are plenty of others that need contribution. And nope--probably not going to be able to fork out $400! Of course--using the classic excuse of--if I didn't have a horse . . . As for a Master Horse Award... hmmm.... not sure about doing it this year, but if we were brainstorming, what kind of qualifications would it entail? Having a 17yo myself, this is an interesting idea. How would points be awarded? Are we talking basically a HOY award but with a minimum age requirement? Or the oldest horse to get points? Or what?

I think HOY with a minimum age requirement would be good. I know USEA has a Master Rider award. It is not given to oldest, just whomever meets a minimum age requirement with the most points.

Anyway, I'm in the process of running the master horse idea by the area chair. Let me see what she says about adding it this year... then we'll go from there. No guarantees, but personally I think it's a cute idea and now that I have the USEA information (yea!!!), it wouldn't be difficult to determine at all! What age limit are you guys thinking? 15? 17? 20?

Alleged... points are only AUTOMATICALLY tabulated for in-Area events. BUT, depending on the level, you are more than welcome to submit scores from outside events as well (recognized only). I currently have no outside results... so everything is from Area VIII only (Rolex, Spring Bay, Winona, Mayfest, IEA and just adding Derbyshire to be specific). Other Area events will be added as results are recieved.

Ann... now that you've stated your AA status, you'll be moved to the AA list on the Rider of the Year standings (Open is for pros and those who don't tell us they belong elsewhere) -- which puts you in 2nd for AA ROY. http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_c...icon_smile.gif

As mentioned, I just got the USEA membership and horse registration info for all of the Area. I'm working (in between work of course http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_c.../icon_wink.gif ) on a more current list due to membership requirements... so the posting to the website might be a few more days.
