Good question. I think it's the dam? From their website, germanpremiumfoals.com, and from the very little I can understand, they don't seem to do ETs...

I posted that on the Totilas foals thread. I believe it is a colt, not filly, and the dam is Sir Donnerhall x Rubinstein. Maybe the white comes from the Donnerhall side of things?

I like this one a bit better than the other one though this one does have a leg up with me in the fact it's not bay. I like the mare A LOT.

Yep, if the mare with the foal is the dam, that's the side the white came from. The fact that the mare's whites are as high as they are and she's black-based makes it really not all that surprising that a chestnut foal came out this loud If he's been black-based, he'd very likely have been much more minimal.

LOL, if only one could tell! Absolutely no way to know. Even if he's shedding really dark at first, that's very, very common with chestnuts of all shades, and most chestnuts don't end up liver (unfortunately LOL)

It is not the first foal in Germany by him (that was already born on March 14th out of a pretty good Caprimond dam that is also the dam of De Champ at PS and Zucchero. A chestnut filly. Breeder Helmar Bescht.

Coming back to the colt:

I was told, that the person behind that homepage had already shown two month earlier a foal to some people and told them ist is by Totilas, which could not have been as there has not been a foal by him at that time in Germany. Beware.

He comes from a long line of blacks with CHROME on the sireline. They all have FOUR WHITE SOCKS AND FACIAL WHITE.

The fact that any black horse can have 4 socks and a little facial white is ALOT (for black-based-horse) The blacks you see with really high stockings and big blazes are a combination of Splash and Sabino - giving a boost to the chrome.

So though the white is suppressed (due to black), it is there. DEFINITELY on the Totillas side/sireline. If Totillas was chestnut, he'd be alot blingier.

Hard to say if sabino is really in there somewhere as black really suppresses it. Splash shows up more readily on black-base.
