Thanks Diane and Gen! I am ashamed to say that I didn't even make it out to the barn today but I did text the barn owner and ask her to give Juliet a birthday pat from me. She is plenty spoiled on every other day so hopefully she will forgive me!

I will say... RW was never my cup of tea, especially with JB at the helm, but Juliet is absolutely gorgeous. I cannot wait to see her under saddle too. No one can look at her and not be impressed.

    Happy (belated) Birthday Juliet!

Thank you! I don't think you will have to wait too much longer to see her under saddle. We have bellied her several times and will most likely start backing her for real after Devon.

Devon - the overall winner this year, maybe, if she stands still?

    How's Jess doing?

Time will tell I guess. In some ways she is looks better than last year, in other's not as good. One of the judges hated her last year at the Maryland state fair so we will see. Jess is doing great! She is leased to a friend of mine at my barn and progressing nicely in her event training.

Well, I figure I could always breed Juliet some day. ET with Jess is a very unlikely possibility at this point.

I think Jess is awesome obviously, but Juliet is head and shoulders better than Jess. Seems like Juliet got all of Jess' good points and improved her not as good points. She is already an inch taller than Jess at just 24 months too! Rather than try to duplicate that again I think it makes more sense to take it up a level and try to improve upon Juliet. I doubt I would ever have the resources to ET a mare but if I did it would be Juliet not Jess unless Juliet was no longer with me for whatever reason.

Agree - Jess is pretty nice already, but Juliet as a whole class above her. I am fairly certain another repeat to RW with Jess would produce something as nice as Juliet, but when you can start with the better of the 2, since you aren't in a breeding program where you need to producing a foal every year, it only makes sense to go with Juliet at some point down the road.

Redwine is off the list forever unless I have proof that Jill Burnell isn't benefiting from him in any way. At this point I wouldn't breed a mare to him if they paid me. I made it away from that black hole unscathed once, no way I would stick my hand back in the fire. But that is a different thread, he did great on this thread!

I really don't think that the judge hated her, he gave you second in the yearling class and reserve Jr Champion. Maybe had she been braided and you had Junior Johnson showing her...

Guess Ironrose (MD State Fair Grand Champion) should go to Devon afterall

Too late for that unless you entered already, but yes, she should have gone. Juliet was only out of the hospital a couple of weeks at the fair so she still looked a little rough. Hopefully he will forget about that at Devon!

I thought she went to the hospital when you left Warrenton? The MD State Fair was 8/29 and you left Warrenton 9/1 as she was having an issue? Was she in the hospital twice?
