Default Shadbelly Color - Black or Blue?

I was wondering some opinions on a favored shadbelly color for CCI events... I have seen some riders wear midnight blue and some wear black(all with cardinal tips, of course). Is there a system to this or just fashion?

Also, some riders wear a pocket silk.. Opinions/thoughts??
    Thankss

The system is... what color is your horse? Also... helmet or top hat? You have to coordinate colors! I'm a non-traditionalist so I would lean towards blue... I personally want BROWN when I have an FEI horse

Navy is traditionally for women, black for men. I ride in Navy, simply because I like it better.

IMHO, blue is softer and better on a woman.

Black is traditional for men and blue for women. That being said, my daughter has a black shad as do many others.

Love my black shad. I just love black coats in general. And I'm a woman.

My friend looks fab in her navy shad.

    To each their own.

With the new rules on color, I'm looking for a deep purple coat now.

Actually, I found a purple huntcoat at a tack store. New, custom made, from a tack store that was going out of business.

I WANTED navy with a navy top hat so I could go with cream britches and stock...sexy. However, when you SCORE big time and find a shadbelly and hat for 50% and they both fit you perfectly, you buy them and suck it up that they are black. We still looked smashing (and I wore yellow britches ).
