Default Putting a new saddle nameplate into old holes.

I bought a used saddle that previously had a nameplate.

If I want to put my own nameplate on it, is there anything I need to do differently to ensure it will stay on (being it is going into already used holes)?

    Thanks.

If the old plate was put in with nails, use screws this time. If the original plate used screws, use screws again.

I've put a little dab of camp glue (its some kind of super glue for fabric, vinyl, leather) on the screw end as I put it in. Or, I have also ordered a plate just a bit bigger than the previous plate, so I cover the old holes and am punching new firm holes.
