Default Tack Stores/Horsie Things Around Savannah?

Heading down this weekend... Anywhere I should be sure to stop? Food? I am gluten free and travelling companion is vegetarian. Staying in Beaufort, too. Cant wait to see the water!

    I love Beaufort...and hunting island.
Have fun, relax, enjoy and walk on the beach, nothing better, except a trail ride...
In Savannah, I like the Soho Cafe and that whole area. Google it. Plenty of other restaurants around the corner if Soho is not your cup of tea.

I love Savannah but I didn't think there was much horsey about it.

I had dinner at a lovely restaurant with the best potatoes I ever tasted. Amazing that they were so noteworthy. Can't remember the name of the place though. Two stories within walking distance of the Marriot?

Tour the old part of the city. The architecture is art!

    Sigh.

Do they have a spa there?

And just to note, the bridge into Savannah will be closed on and off due to a fatal wreck yesterday....huge boom truck went over the side and took the guardrails with it, so if you still want to go, I would recommend coming in from the southside.

Think it will be fixed in a week, we are heading down to help our son move to Savannah to go to SCAD. Coming down on the 24th.

Never figured out why a college known for Art has and equine program

The daughter of the president of the school rides horses. Went to school there for my master's and lots of the non-horsey art students HATE that thier money is going to a state of the art equestrain program. It does however draw a lot of horsey art students to the school.

As far as horsey things to do - you can always go on a carriage ride in downtown Savannah. Either way, it will be crazy there.

Ahhhh, all makes perfect sense now. I wasn't even aware they had athletic programs at all.
