Can I join the pity party? I came very close to quitting my job in order to go this year...then my USEAHusband reminded me that without said nuissance employment I could kiss goodbye my dream of getting my horses there one day. Well. That worked. July 1st I'm starting with a new boss. I'll ask for the time off (for 2006) on July 2nd. Humph!
now, now, I have the ultimate pity party here in Dallas.
all due to my new job, started this week:
only 10% of the time does my computer think well enough to even get on to the Chronicle Site....this is the first time this week! and thank goodness caues I needed some Rolex updates!
I get out of work at 4:30-5:00 instead of 3:00. which means traffic, and less time for the Booms Man and his workouts. he's used to being ridden at 4pm. I had to wake him up yesturday evening and he was grouchy!
I wanted to go too, but work reared its ugly head (actually, it's a good job and I didn't want to jeopardize it). Since I fear this is the last 4 star CCI ever, I really wanted to go, but it was not to be.
AllyCat, I felt the same way you do about not going to watch a short format next year but after reading about how committed Janie Atkinson is to saving the long format (having it during non-championship years at the minimum) I want to do anything I can to support her and her event. So I expect to be there next year.
I can't remember where but I have read about it in more than one place, I'm sure there is something in this week's Rolex KY preview issue. They will hold short format during World Championship and Olympic years but the plan is to have a long format during the other years. Also, Janie Atkinson is of the opinion that eventually people will not be so thrilled with the short format and she wants to make sure that KY at least maintains the long version. There may even be something about this on the Eventing forum.
AllyCat, read the Commentary on COTH's website, it refers to Janie Atkinson's feelings on this as well as saying to go to page 56 to read more about how she is trying to preserve the long format. Hopefully you're a COTH subscriber so you can access this info.
