Default Feed through Joint Supplements vs. Im

Can someone explain the IM joint injections and/or other options besides feed through. I have a 14yo ottb who raced for 7 years with 48 starts. Had his hocks injected a month ago and have seen great results. I have not however seen any results from the countless feed through supplements.

I have not seen any results from feed thru gluco or HA. Msm, yes. Other supplements yes. But not those.

The injections of HA, sometimes. Gluco injections sometimes but more than HA.

Joint injections, much higher rate of success.

Default I have had mixed results

    Glucosamine- limited effects

    Chondroitin- ditto

HA good results as long as the dose is high enough, at least 50mg per day, which can get pricey.

Cynatine sold as Keraflex, good results.

MSM - OK results, more with muscle problems than joints.

Cetyl Myristoleate/Celadrin- some reasonable results as long as the dose is high enough.

Best results a combination of Keraflex and HA.

    YMMV.

I have had little to no sucess with feed through. I have tried many and in different combinations over the years.

My best success has been through IM> I am a convert.

Spend your money on injections. So many feed through products don't even have what they say they have in them and the gut does not digest them as well in a horse. Go with injections, Legend or Adequan, you know what you are getting with them.
