Default Good News From The Rescue Front!! (major cuteness alert!)

From Jenn at Bluebonnet - here is cuteness overload! I think I'm in love!

Mom is a TB mare who came into BEHS as part of a seizure last summer already pregnant. We weren’t sure when she was due, so she stayed with our fostering coordinator who has plenty of foaling experience. Sookie started bagging up over the weekend, and at 4am Wed. morning our fostering coordinator found her struggling to give birth. With a little assistance, she gave birth to a healthy filly named Moonlit Melody. Both mom and baby are doing great.

    Default ATT: DGRH!

    Your PM box is full!

Found this while farting about, and realized it might be a great boon as anyone can do it!!

They take your photo, and make it a postcard and even stamp and mail it for you! If you buy bulk credits (good for a YEAR), you can get 26 for 24$

Note that it was a link from Delta Airlines (my work) so I know it's not a Fly by night thing!

Perhaps SH could get an even bigger bulk discount?

No problem, I meant we need the rescues to pick their best postcard shots if they want to do postcard thank-yous. Then with Threebars' source or something else, we can find COTHers to donate the cards for major donor thank-yous at least, or however the rescues need to use them.

Special Horses has set up a fund for just that - even a $5 donation will help, and all funds are earmarked for this very purpose.
    Special Horses Thank You Fund

I am already having the groups send me pics to put up on a slide show on top of the Special Horses homepage, and we can collect from there (or form the million other pics!).

chemteach is also designing postcards, and so many of you have offered to help address and send. So bear with us as we get the ball rolling!

    Adorable! Might she be black?

Can you regiister her? So her pedigree is known. It might make her future brighter--show with NATBs for prizes etc. Unless mom was just field bred by accident. Don't know the particulars of this rescue.

*sigh* I'm not sure that Bluebonnet does either. They don't breed of course! But so many of their seizures turn up in foal.

We don't breed and our horses come from seizures, abandonment cases, or stray cases. So when one shows up pregnant, there's no way to know who was the sire. In this mare's case, she was seized along with a stallion. But since I don't know how long they had the mare - we don't know if he's the sire or not.

I asked DGRH to post because I figure all the rescues post sad and difficult cases all the time (Bluebonnet included). It was nice to get to post something cute and hopeful and happy for a change.

A small donation was made toward the thank you cards.
