There is likely a therapeutic riding program in your area, and most of those programs are always looking for volunteers.

Google turned up several rescues in the area, that would be a good place to start if you have extra time.

Maryland, though not a huge state, covers some geographic areas - and in some spots you might be close to VA, WVA, DE or PA - so where are you located and what type of volunteer work are looking for - w/ Therapeutic Riding, Horse/Animal Rescue, free help at barns etc...

You wouldn't be confused if you had read the answers - there are many suggestions here. I don't think anyone has anything to offer you which you can't do for yourself - you are going to have to do the legwork and use the ideas here as clues to places you can look. If you want to volunteer, find the horse places near you and start making calls. No horse place i know of will turn away free help or grooming, unless they are a private house with a private barn and don't want strangers on the property. If you contact the boarding barns and thereputic riding centers in your area, you will have some options. Good luck.
Airborne? Oh. Yes, he can take a joke. Once. After that, the joke's on you.
