Default Video of Totilas at Schockemohle's Stallion Show

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U5ltb...layer_embedded

Just found this link on Facebook. Unbelievable stallion. Those that do not care for extravagant knee action, should refrain from watching (:

The ability of this stallion to go from maximum exertion to total relaxation is incredible.

Your timing for posting this video could not be better, we are breeding to him, screw all his critics. IF his foals are even half as good as he is, they'll still be twice as good as most others. He is thrilling, makes your heart skip a beat...

Good for you Cartier! I thought the same thing when I just watched this video. Also felt stupid for not having placed an order yet for his frozen (:

We’re working on finding a good repro vet. We absolutely loved Dr. Hurtgen… and always had great success with him, always got in foal on the first cycle, with one dose (both with the two breedings to Lord Sinclair and the breedings to Sandro Hit). When we used other vets (for Contango and Feinbrand breedings) it took numerous cycles and as a result it cost a fortune. Clearly, given the price of a dose of Totilas, finding the right vet is more critical now than ever. I wonder if people are still having good succes with Nandi Vet Assoc now that John has passed on. Given that he set such a high standard, I would expect that those who worked for him (whom he trained) are pretty good too. Arthur will have to check it out. Being an OBGYN, he's as close as we get to having a repro expert in the family.

My only critique of the video is the curb seems to be almost parallel to the ground most of the time Maybe they are still getting acquainted?

I do think he's beautiful and cool, but you guys are right he's definitely a specific type, reminds me of a park horse, but actually doing it right in true collection.

I just love how the suggestions on the right are a mixture of videos of Totials doing dressage and "how to make tortillas" videos.

Gives me goosebumps. What a horse! (though can't help but wishing it were still Edward on him).

I think there are probably a few more criticisms of the ride… We looked past them. We are thinking in terms of the stallion as a breeding animal, and he suits us to a T.

Years ago we were drawn to breeding to Gribaldi, and got talked out of it by supposedly knowledgeable breeders. When we now look back at what they produced (and what their foals/ breeding choices are doing now in sport), we are more strongly connected to this truth, “Do your research, then do what you think is best; you are the one who has to live with the consequences.”

I think I am going to start saving up, though I am truthfully unsure as to wether the mare I have in mind would suit him well enough?

Cartier, be thankful you were talked out of Gribaldi. The frozen was useless (we also really wanted to use him and even ordered semen to find out it was not good). He was a great sire though, such a shame.

Cartier; Nandi has a new repro specialist running the show now...Dr Sheerin... he was with doc Hurtgen way back in the day and recently been at Rood and Riddle. I have been asking about him, supposedly he is top notch.. I think today may be his first day...

Just thinking how much more he could show if he wasn't so tight in the curb. The other criticisms probably wouldn't make a difference to the overall impression I'm not a big "knee" fan, but still, WOW!

Agreed. I adore the horse. The ride doesn't look as effortless, that's for sure. He and Edward were so suited. Oh well. Doesn't change the fact that Totilas is one in a million

I'm thinking of him next year. It's hard to say what type he works best with yet I think, so I'm kind of waiting for a few more foals to get a better idea of a good mare for him.

OK -- I'm going to show my ignorance here, but what gait is T. suppose to be doing when he first enters the arena?

Is it a working trot? Extended trot? Passage? Collected trot?

Cartier - You are very brave. Have you actually received his semen? Totilas gives me goosebumps! Good luck

Dr. Peter Sheerin is the new vet at Nandi. Dr. Sheerin is excellent and an extremely nice man to boot. The practice is in great hands and although it is hard to replace Dr. Hurtgen, you couldn't ask for a better choice.
