    Veterinary pharmacies can easily compound thyroid meds for cats into a gel that you rub on the ear. The medication is absorbed through the skin.

    You mom should wear a glove so she doesn't give herself a dose of thyroid meds - but it's worth talking to her vet about. He just has to call a compounding pharmacy and give them the Rx.

    I believe Wedgewood Pharmacy in NJ does this, among other compounding pharmacies. It's very common for cats.

    ^Thanks for the suggestions. Next time I talk to her I'll pass them on. She said last time we spoke she was going to talk to the vet about other options, so it'll be interesting to hear what the vet thought.
