I have a wonderful reg. Saddlebred mare that I'm looking for possible breeding options. I would like to breed for a dressage baby so I'm looking for suggestions for a stallion that can compliment the sporthorse type Saddlebred. Also, what type of registry options might be available? I am willing to get this mare approved in any organizations she might qualify for.

I have an ASB/Han gelding that I just love. His Saddlebred dam was approved with ISR and he has ISR papers. He is by the Hanoverian stallion Waldaire. You can see pictures of him on my website although those pictures are almost 2 years old I need to get some more recent ones now that he is under saddle.

My boy has a wonderful temperament and has been an absolute dream to work with. I believe RPSI will also inspect ASB mares into their lowest book but I would double check that.

There are a couple people here that breed ASB warmblood crosses so I am sure they will chime in as well!

I breed ASB/WB crosses and register them with either Canadian Warmblood or Canadian Sporthorse.. although i think i will likely be sticking with CDN Sporthorse in the future unless buyers ask for CWB papers, mainly due to the CSHA breeder's shows and breeder incentives and awards available in my area.

Unfortunately this doesn't help the OP if they're in the USA.

As for any of the WB registries, most will only enter the mare into the lowest book and you will only get a COP. I believe your mare would have to be quite tall, solid and substantial and be a pretty big mover to get a passing score for ISR (Dance_to_Oblivion - your guy's dam was a solid 17hh and had a big, solid frame).

The only Euro registry i know of that would give your mare's foal full papers if she passed inspection is BWP - but she'd have to be a very good specimen to pass, she'd have to be tall with good bone and substance and above average movement.

In that case, my recommendation to take her to a BWP inspection still stands.

You can also go the AWS or AWR route. People on here may sneer at those options, but whatever - any papers are better than no papers.

Oh I definitely plan on taking Penny to a BWP inspection as soon as she's ready, no doubt. I'm just trying to figure out what stallion would be the absolute best option for her. There are so many nice ones out there but I'm not very familiar with them yet. I want something that is going to be AA friendly but still have the chops to do good at the lower levels.

Here she is. She was a Christmas present from my husband after a different horse I was looking at fell through. She is actually everything I was looking for, I just never expected to find it in a Saddlebred package.

Sorry it's an action shot but this is actually one of my favorites.

I'm not sure that a resultant foal would be eligible "full" BWP papers out of a Saddlebred mare. http://www.belgianwarmblood.com/bwp_MareFoal.html I would call them to inquire before breeding to make sure.

I already did - and was told that while the mare would be put in one of 2 different books (depending on pedigree) if she passed, the foal would receive full papers and be eligible for branding just the same as any other foal.
