Default Analysis of a Pedigree Please

I just got a new baby, and I am very excited I have searched his tatoo number and have gotten his registered name and pedigree. Wondered if anyone would care to give an opinion on his bloodlines? I plan to do the H/J stuff with him eventually......right now we are just learning how to trot properly

I also wanted to try and contact his former owner/breeder to let them know where he is, and how he is doing. I found his breeder (in Charlestown, WV) and sent them an email, but got no response. He never raced, so I can't get any info that way. I would love to see some pictures of him, maybe his registration photo, but not sure how to go about that either. He came without papers, and no info at all except the name of his sire. Any help or suggestions would be great! I know you guys are always full of helpful suggestions

Anyway....here is the link to his pedigree. No, he is not a grey, and yes I will be giving him a new show name! Suggestions welcome for that as well

i'd call up the JC about past info, as well as try to get the papers from his previous owner so you can get a JC transfer of ownership.

pedigree-wise, neither his sire or his dam were super classy. small track horses, really. further back there are some gems, including War Admiral in the 5th, and we all know he was nothing to laugh at.
I've heard there's more to life than an FEI tent and hotel rooms, so I'm trying it.

Well, I've been running my keyboard saying "the horse in front of you is more important than the names on any paper ", but as a rabid fan of A Fine Romance, Gay Missle jumps right out for me. The dam's sire is brother to Lassie Dear.

Pange, in the dam's bottom line, is the granddam of Landaluce.

So, you can brag about you guy's relations while you are standing at the ingate.

I think I'm right about all this? I get this stuff mixed up if I can't lay it out in front of me at the same time.

If you WANT to, you can transfer ownership on the JC webpage for free. (They don't really care who owns the horse if he can't be bred and won't be raced, but you can.)

I've never heard of them giving out registration photos. I suppose you could always ask.

Since he didn't race and presumably has never been bred, there really isn't much anyone can tell you, probably, unless you can find out who had him tattooed and why they decided not to start him.

In addition to names mentioned, Ribot appears. Good sport-horse bloodline.

For WV peeps on the forum, the breeder listed on equineline is Mrs. Calvin E. Rofe, if anyone knows who that is and could help the OP.

My BO has a mare by Meford who she loves and is doing quite well with in eventing. She is very similar in build to your guy. She herself quite looks like Medford. Have fun with your new horse!

Yes, Pange is a classic female, and for your boy, it is the tail female line, so very important.

And his dam also has Sir Gaylord - a classic jumper sire. Some people also like Buckpasser.
