Default Shipping from Canada to California

Has anyone shipped a horse from Canada to California (or any state)? What shipper did you use and what was your experience? Would you recommend them/ use them again?

I don't know if they go to Canada, but Blew by You is EXCELLENT!!! They are Calif based. I've had two horses shipped from Canada. One was shipped by a company that is no longer in service, the other was shipped by Silver Bullet horse transport and they did a great job.

Bob Hubbard makes regular runs from BC to CA. Professional, prompt and priced right. There are a number of smaller haulers on the West coast who can do the job, too. Does American run down there? I used them to haul from Seattle to PDX and liked them very much.

You might see who the big A barns use to bring horses from BC/Seattle to Thermal.

There is a draft horse shipper that hauls regularly down the coastline from Canada- I can find the link to their site and send it to you...

When I was arranging shipment for a horse from BC to the PDX area, I went through American (who I had used within the US) but the portion in Canada and over the border was actually to be performed by Thompson. Thompson would pick up the horse in BC, bring it over to WA and transfer the horse to American to deliver to me.

I didn't go through with it (horse didn't vet), so can't say how it worked out! But you might try calling American and see how they direct you.

My friend is getting the Canadian Trakehener Stallion, Pacific. I will be riding his dressage under the guidance of my trainer, she will be doing the jumper stuff. I can't wait for him to get here.

Good time of the year to look for a ride, lots of horses should be heading down to Thermal right about now. Check with some of the hunter\jumper barns to see if their shippers have a space available.

Wow - lucky! I heard he was on the market.

Hubbard is the one with the best rep. You could also try Thompson's up here - I think they do a run to California.

I had a not-so-great time with Thompsons, and would recommend you look elsewhere.

I have shipped with Thompson several times and been beyond pleased every time. If they have horses to deliver in the US, they will bring your horse all the way. If they don't, they connect with Hubbard at the border, and they make the trip on down the coast. U.S. haulers can't go into Canada and pick up a horse without taking a horse with them, so it is difficult to get a US hauler.

Thompson will be going thru California lots in the next 6 weeks. All of us who are racing in Phoenix will be coming home using them and they run thru California on the way here.

Two horses at different times were shipped by Bob Hubbard from Vancouver, BC to Los Angeles. Both horses arrived in good condition and it was a smooth transaction.
