Default Grass Experts; What to Plant in Riding Paddock

I'm in central Kentucky. I have a 120 x 140 paddock that is used mostly for riding. Very rarely I use it for turnout for a horse I need to keep an eye on for one reason or another.

What is the best grass or grass mixture to plant? I need something that will hold up well for riding, but can take very occasional grazing.

If you don't get help here, try calling places that sell grass seed. Our local farm store is very horsey and gives great advice on hay and grass mixes (they sell both). Sometimes the sales folks can be awesome and they know your area's particular soils, weather, and grass mixes best. And they have great advice on how to prep and seed. And often rent the equipment.

I have the equipment...at least my neighbor does and he's the best neighbor ever! But, this is a more cattle focused area than horses. I may have to the the ag agent for Fayette County.

What I'm probably looking for is what polo fields are seeded with. Anyone know?

Polo fields typically have Bermuda grass or a bluegrass-mixture.

Thanks Equibrit. It looks like a mixture of 60% bluegrass, 20% perennial rye and 20% fescue will do the trick.

We're too far north for Bermuda.
