Default Anyone use Ohio State University Ag department to collect?

Their fees seem to be pretty reasonable.

Anyone on here use them? How were they with the stallion?

I would love info on this as well. Do you know if they are collecting at the vet hospital or the horse barn on sawmill rd? I know they have dummys at both but the one at the vet hospital last I knew was in the parking lot and not ideal in my opinion. Where did you get price quotes? I am driving to my repro vet to collect my young stallion and she is more than an hour away from me. She is wonderful but the drive is a bit much. Thanks!!

    Hey Coopertop,

Where is your repro vet? I'm in Dayton and having a heck of a time finding anyone to collect my guy.

I don't know anything about the collection program but I'll call them today or tomorrow and ask about it.

    This is their services page...

I have spoken with Dr Carlos Pinto in great detail and he is wonderful. I was looking for a vet to fetal sex, ET's and frozen semen close to home. They are only 15 mins from my house . They give tours and respond by email the same day. Their prices are fantastic on the mare end. I dont have a stallion so I dont know but I would definetly give them a call or email.

Hey, Tidy Rabbit, how old is your stallion? Some repro programs advise against collecting 2 year olds (because they can be too immature) and some prefer not to collect three year olds yet either. Most prefer to collect after the stallion is confirmed to some degree in its training first. There are great courses for breeders at Colorado State and UC Davis and other places as well where you can learn all about both the mare and stallion sides of breeding. We took the one in Colorado and it was great.

I believe that is the Dr. Squires from Colorado State as guest speaker at Ohio State. He loves to teach and was a great fun to talk to when he gave the seminar in Colorado.

I use Bella Vista Equine with Dr. Martinsen. She is fantastic but is SO far from me (1 hour 15 minutes each way).

Dr Martinsen is great. I have used her for some repro services and seen her collect. Very reputable. I would recommend trying her.
