Default 1987 AHSA Medal Final Participants

do you still have the halter they gave out for qualifying? and if so, do you use it? I just found mine in my trunk, never used, though some mice have been chewing on it. Just curious if anyone else still has theirs...and if they use it.

I don't have the halter, but I have the halter plate in my office. I *do* have the keychain they gave (from 1989 I think?) on my keyring. FWIW, I thought the halter was MUCH better than the keyring, but look which one I still have and use

Ha! I like the idea of the halter but I'm wondering if I'll look like an idiot using it .

Consider it a badge of honour. Enough time has elapsed that you will not look like a show-off.

My daughter asked me to take a bunch of old shipping halters to a tack sale, and when I saw the corner of a brass plate peeking out from under the sheepskin of one, I pulled it back and it was the very one you're talking about! I asked her if she really wanted to give it away, and she said that the memory of that trip will always be with her, so it was OK. I will LOL if anyone comes on here to say that they bought one at a tack sale in Minnesota

I wouldn't consider using them as bragging ! You all should be proud of your accomplishment!

I would definitely use mine if I had it! It's just that somewhere along the way, the plate got separated from the halter...but plate, although all scraped up, is still proudly displayed. If that makes me a dork, so be it

I don't have one of those (never even showed at that level) but having won something similar, I had the plate removed from the halter and a name plate for a horse put on to use the halter. I then had the plate put on a frame with a photo of the horse from the competition as a memento. Just putting it out there as an idea.
