    Default Finding a past breeder/owner?

    Hi,
    I recently acquired an OTTB.
I was told this particular horse was the trainer's horse. I don't have his papers but on pedigree inquiry the breeder/owner is the same name. I googled the name and it looked like the same person is also a trainer. Sooo I'm just assuming that he was also my horse's trainer.

Is it appropriate to try and find contact information and let him know that his horse is really really enjoys his new job (eventing) ?

The horse has been off the track for almost 2 years, I believe. I got him in September.

    Thanks!
    -Chelsie

I love hearing from people who have horses I bred or owned!

I would look him up on equibase.com--you'll get his racing record, and it'll give you the names of all his trainers and owners for each race. If he raced for a while, chances are he's changed hands at least once. Plus you can read the chart notes and see how he did, which can be very entertaining.

Pedigreequery is sometimes sorta okay for pedigrees, assuming everything was put in correctly, but there's no guarantee anything on it is correct.

If it is the horse from this thread: http://www.chronofhorse.com/forum/sh...d.php?t=270956

He was owned by his breeder for his entire racing career, and trained by a J. Rogers. The breeder/owner is probably your best bet.
