    Default Colt Starter in KY

My friend has a 2yr old Warmblood filly she would like a colt starter to get on this fall. Don't mind if it is a western trainer or english, just want someone who puts a good base on a young horse.
    Thanks!

That's farther than she wants to send it. She just wants it to get a month or 6 weeks of basic training. I think she would also want to be able to go and check on her. Thanks though!

There is Dave Davies, in Madison,IN.he rides western, although my 2 are WB. He started 2 for me this summer....line driving, backing, loading etc..his rates are excellent! and drove 3 hours to get to me, so he may come to you as well if you have a facility for him to work in the winter.you can PM me for his number

I know of a couple people who can do this for you. Depends on how much she wants to spend and what she wants done.

Lauren Nethery starts a lot of racehorse so if she wants some to just get the baby backed and used to tack and a rider and some basic w/t/c, she started several of mine in the fall of their 2 or 3 yo year. 30 days should be plenty for that, as she starts them all like racehorses. 615-969-8994

In the spring I sent them to Sarah Conyers who does a super job getting them going with a bit more advanced stuff, too. 859-361-5561

Both have reasonable rates and are very nice. We take young horses in training here, too, but right now have not been taking ones to start, but rather ones that are ready to have a bit more done with them.

    Good luck, hope this helps!

    FYI,
Angela (Hecker) Jackson, will not start them. She'll take over after they are backed for at least 30 days.

I would try Punchestown Stable, I really like how she rides her young horses and I believe they start them.

Try Wendy Quiggle of Vision Quest Farm, Harrodsburg Ky.. Its what she does. She has started 2 of mine. I believe she has started some for Dance To Oblivion as well as some other COTHers. She puts a *very * nice start on them.
