Anyone else volunteer at an animal shelter? I started relatively recently (back in September) when I learned that the pup we adopted last Thanksgiving had a littermate who had been returned after being adopted last year. It sort of became 'my mission' to help Gregor find his forever home. I find it one of the most rewarding things I've ever done...on the other hand, I often find it one of the saddest things I've done.

The shelter where I volunteer is a 'no-kill' shelter, so if no one adopts the residents, they get a home for life. We're currently under 'mass attack' of puppyitis...it seems like everyone and their brother has dogs who recently had puppies, and so there are lots of litters being surrendered shelter in droves. Of course, when offered a FREE spay coupon for their female dog (which they're keeping), no one is interested...GRRRR.

Anyhow, just wanted to give some props to my fellow shelter volunteers if they're out there!
