What's that sound? It sounds like tapping from inside the oven. . . Hey, has anyone heard from the OP?

Maybe skyy is right, perhaps it was a simple solution, and OP is embarrassed to come back on...

Here's my appliance nightmare...About 25 years ago, I worked as a bartender at a private "society" club. The clientele was mostly old school Portugese, fishermen, blue collar workers. The highlight of any given night was the cribbage games. These guys, for the most part, had hearts of gold. Loved working there.

They had recently gotten a dishwasher. I'd never had one at home, or in my apt., so didn't have any idea about the soap.....Yes, I tipped some regular dish soap into the dispenser.

After a few minutes, one guy at the bar pointed to the kitchen doorway, saying, "What in the HELL is that?" You guessed it, a mutant, extremely large cloud of bubbles had taken over. It was really fun shoveling the suds down the sink drain the rest of the night.

It only took about 5 years for the jokes about it to stop. Even today, a few guys around town still call me "Bubbles"....

My grandfather did that (after scolding us girls for being "amateurs" for not starting the dishwasher after clearing the table) and while we were all giggling about the ensuing mess, he went into the closet and brought out a mop and handed it to me....

...and pointed out he got two chores done at once that way.

Point. Set. Match. = Grandpa wins.

    I miss him still.

I've got a GE Profile and it locked itself the other night. We had to press 9 & 0 at the same time for 3 seconds and it unlocked. I wasn't flame broiling at 500 though.

Sam: Oh. I've never liked those.

Draw those numbers on with a marker Grataan, then push them.

LOL. It must be an older Profile because it has buttons for timer, bake, clean, up and down arrows for increasing/decreasing temp and time, and of course broil. but no ten key keypad. ruh-roh

The OP said in post #19 she turned everything back on, and still couldn't open the oven. Presumably her internet connection still worked at that point, unless she was posting from her phone.

    The mystery continues!
