    Default Horsey Christmas Traditions

Hi, what do others do "traditonally" during the holidays for their horses? I hang stockings on the stalls and a wreath on the barn door.

I always used to go ride on Christmas and Thanksgiving and any other holiday. Horseless right now- so maybe next year.

(I also used to volunteer to feed on Holiday nights...let others spend it with their familes)

Stockings on the stalls and the horses all exchange gifts (treats usually).

When I was a kid I would always go on a trail ride on Christmas eve.

Tomorrow morning I will drive out to the barn and "help" my horse open all of the goodies in her stocking

Ours get grain & carrots or apples. If it's cold they get a hot mash with grain. The grain is the treat.

Not a tradition, but we bought a new winter blanket for the school pony and delivered it today, along with carrots. He's all nice and toasty and fashionable!

I always used to do stuff like that. This year, my baby greenie is off at the trainer's and it's just too far to travel. I've been assured that he will get to share Christmas mash w/ carrots, apples & molasses, so I don't think he'll miss me overmuch, but it feels WEIRD not to have a pony to snuggle and spoil at Christmas!

They have stockings and wreathes on their doors filled with apples, carrots, and candy canes. I'll make them a hot mash for brunch. Maybe DD and I will go for a ride, but Rico will at least get a nice 'holiday grooming' and a handgrazing.

My horses have stockings hung on the barn walls. I always give a good grooming & lots of treats on Christmas.

My two at home get extra apples and a good grooming. After that they just want to be left alone to snooze and munch their hay in peace.
