Default VA Folks -- Road Conditions on I95

Looks like I need to make a road trip to Leesburg ASAP. I'm coming from northeastern NC and would be taking I-95 the majority of the trip. I don't drive on ice or snow. What's your roads like? Thanks much.

You'll probably want to check out Google's Traffic View which will at least give you some idea of how fast traffic is moving.

Right now there is rain on top of the snowfall from the NC border up to Petersburg, freezing rain/sleet from Petersburg to Richmond and snow from Richmond up to Doswell (Kings Dominion exit) with another small batch ready to head through.

If you don't do ice and snow, I would not be driving through here tonight or early tomorrow. After that, it is supposed to be clear until Sat. afternoon/evening.

Hope your not headed to Leesburg with a sick/injured horse! If so, could you go to Raleigh?

The above post is an opinion, just an opinion. If it were a real live fact it would include supporting links to websites full of people who already agreed with me.

Not an injured/sick horse thankfully. Appreciate the road update.

Roads around Richmond were slick, sloppy, slushy mess this afternoon. Our office closed early due to weather today, and it took me over 90 minutes for what is usually a 40 minute commute, not because of traffic but because of road conditions. 295 was especially messy.

    Same here around Warrenton.

I mostly watched the roads from the VA Live Traffic cam site:

    Definitely a big mess today.

Things are pretty decent here in Fairfax today. Elsewhere, not so much. They had the trucks out and about right after it started to snow yesterday.

Richmond area is much better today, and with darn near all the schools closed, the traffic was pretty quiet this morning. I live west of Richmond and am working on the west side today, for what that is worth. Roads were just fine this morning on the way in.

I live outside Leesburg. For the most part roads are nasty, the major roads aren't too bad (nothing is as bad as the snowpocalypse, but the rural neighborhood roads are awful.

95 is okay now but I understand the traffic is awful on 95 and Rt. 17
