    Default *Carolinas Tortoiseshell RIP

This past Tuesday, a great mare of royal blood and my first broodmare was sent to heaven. Tort was the only living sister to Purple Emperor, the UK five time national Champ.
My son Liam took this very hard, in the early hours after the vet had put her at rest, before my hay farmer came to put her in HER spot, Liam place a gold dollar on her head to "pay the ferryman" and a small pile of grain for her journey.

I will never have another as great as herself.

    Regards, J

    Default Kids and Heavy Hearts

Thank you all for your kind words, Both my boys were little when I got Tortoiseshell, I remember Liam singing Itzy Bitzy Spider to her, and Jimmy at three brushing her tail, seeing her vulva and asking if that is where the baby came out. Tort was a very wary pony, but she soften with my kids.
I had her inspected by the ASPR, I was running out of hands so Jimmy had to hold her, he was 5 and she was the site champ.

    Kind regards, J

Hugs to you and sympathy in your loss. It seems the holiday season brings about alot of issues with the older horses as the season/weather changes. Kudos to you for giving her so much love --

    Default Sorry for your loss,

it's always hurts so much to lose them. I have wondered about her and when you feel like it I would appreciate everything you could tell me about her and her offspring. I know about her wonderful bloodlines but that's all. I own a son of hers "phantom hawksbill" so knowing about his mother would mean a lot to me. Hawk has the nicest disposition and I know he was champion B at the winter fair. Linda
