    Default I need pony names!

I have two nameless weanlings - help!
One is a chesnut colt with a flaxen mane and tail, 4 white legs and a big white blaze. He is a reg. Welsh by Glannant Boradway out of Peekaboo Creek. We are hoping he will stay a stallion and carry on his sire's bloodlines.

The other is a dramatic black filly with star that's barely visible and one white hind sock. Her dam is the childrens large champion from MD named Petticoat. Her sire is also Broadway.

I love the themes Mrs. Butler carried out thru the years - Broadway's dam was Primrose Lane - Broadway's brothers and sisters were Yellow Brick Road, Country Roads, Fifth Avenue. I have used the broadway theme using Billy Elliot and Singing in the Rain as well as Madison Avenue.

I just can't seem to think of anything!

I like them all except for crinoline. Crin means horse hair in french. Old fashioned crinolines were made of horse hair for stiffness, hence the name.

It's a tv reference but I couldn't help but think: Petticoat Junction for the filly. I guess I'm dating myself!

I totally love Burlesque for the mare! What a great idea.

For your stallion prospect how about some of these NYC avenues:
Bleecker Street: Greenwich Village Night Club district, whcih incidentally ran through Anthony Bleecker's farm
Delancey Street: another street named after a farm owner
Flatbush Avenue: one of Brooklyn's busiest streets, derived from the Dutch word meaning woodland
Park Avenue: Synonymous with High Style
    "Beware the hobby that eats."

Absolutely the first thing that popped into my head! Another vote for Burlesque. Although I liked Chorus Line too.

As for the little lad, I like Singin in the Rain (b/c I love the movie) but it might be a little long. What about Broadway Melody (song from the movie)? I'll keep thinking...I love musicals!

I love Burlesque for the filly. If I ever had a mare to name I have always liked Fantine (female character from Les Miserables) and Faline (Bambi's friend). I like short, easy names.

I'd hold off on Burlesque until the reviews for the movie reviews come in!

Love the name Broadway Fantine or Broadway Cosette (Fantine's daughter).... or Broadway Nellie Forbush (South Pacific) or Broadway Gypsy Rose (Gypsy).
