    Default so excited!!!

I'm going hunting for my very first time this Sat. with Hunter's Rest and ODH!!! I'm so glad the weather will be gorgeous. I'm practically jumping out of my skin with excitement! Any advice for a newbie? Will any other COTHers be there?

    HOW EXCITING I miss hunting...

Do you know what their policy is regarding non-members and capping?

It was arranged through Hunter's Rest, so I assume everything has been approved. I'm aware of the capping fees. Is there anything else I need to know?

I'm not hunting with them this Saturday but I hope to run into you another time.

I know you are going to have an absolute blast and become addicted.

Heels down, head up and smile.

Oh - you need to come back and tell us all about it!

sar2008 - I capped with them a few times - pm me if you want details. Lovely territory and hounds.

    What JSwan said

"Heels down, head up and smile."

They have an awesome pack of hounds.

The weather looks like it will be a glorious day to be out riding.

ENJOY and then tell us all about it!!

Wow! congrats! So jealous!! I have yet to go on my first hunt but am absolutely dying to do so! They don't have hound hunting here in Slovakia, where I now live. I am busy riding every day trying to get fit enough to give Hilltopping a try in Ireland this season. Can'r wait to hear how it goes for you!

    Default I'm back!

My weekend totally exceeded my expectations! I can't say enough about what a wonderful experience I had....gorgeous country, perfect weather, and great people and horses! Betsy at Hunter's Rest, is a phenomenal horsewoman with a wealth of knowledge to share and her horses are extremely well trained! Mine took care of me every step of the way. Got to meet Wateryglen, so it was nice to put a face to a fellow COTHer. Everyone I met at the farm and ODH was warm, welcoming and enthusiastic. Thank you, everyone, and I WILL be back again!

Thumbs up So how was it!?

You won't believe what Ridingagain was doing when I walked up and introduced myself!!
    I guess that's a hunting tradition ay?!!
Anyway, she had a huge smile on her face and looked nervous so.....can't wait to hear how her hunt went. Looked good to me. I car followed and it was a sloooowwww day. Dribs & drabs and not many foxes. Spectacular weather (in the 60's), spectacular scenery with the mountains as backdrop. I was truly envious! Forgot to talk to her at the tailgate....WG is SUCH a snob!! and I'm always focused on the food!

When you are riding a great horse everything else takes care of itself. Glad your intro was perfect!!

Default Hunter's Rest always gets 4 Stars in my book!

Her string of hunt horses are without doubt, tried, true, and trustworthy. My first time out hunting the foothills of VA last year, I put my trust in Hunter's Rest and had such a wonderful time! I keep going back! Heading back down to Hunter's Rest next month for another ODH fix.

Another COTH hunt to be organized??? Second weekend in VA perhaps???

Riding again, you couldn't have been in better hands. My first (and so far only) hunting experience was with Hunter's Rest and ODH, and I'm totally hooked. Another COTH hunt sounds great to me...but I have to wait until 2011, I'm all out of vacation for 2010
Whicker tells me that there is decent hunting even in March....if anyone's up for another COTH weekend then, let me know...I'll bust out my tiara..

Jay-sus, you guys. (blush) I *just* stumbled on this thread (waiting for the farrier and taking a deep breath after fussing about tax questions over on Around The Farm.) You honor me.
Sincerely, I have had a long life surrounded by very top quality very generous horsemen in the foxhunting, steeplechasing, horse racing and pony club worlds. It adds up to an odd-ball mix of information in my toolkit but I am so happy to share. Ditto the horses. Give them a chance to shine, and they are so generous. Nuthin' to it. : o )
Thank you for your kind comments.

    Talking I can play

I'm planning on accompanying Pleasantmeadow for the second weekend of December. Actually, I'm holding her horses as hostages in my barn, so she HAS to include me! We are hunting ODH on Saturday. Haven't decided which other hunts to try yet.
