Default Help finding current owners of TBs

hoping someone here can point me in the right direction...

I have identified some specific bloodlines that I love crossed on my stallion. Unfortunately, the mares I had were older and are now gone. So, I would like to find some mares with the same (or very closely related) blood.

Problem is you can't get the names of current owners from the JC.

    So, thoughts?

Wondered today if a bloodstock agent would be helpful, but we aren't talking about high dollar mares, so don't know that it would be worth their time.

I've compiled a list of potential mares and other than watching the sales lists and websites for them to come up for sale, I'm stuck.

    Help!!!

Enter the horse's name in the horse search box in the upper right hand corner. It will tell you the owner's name as of the horse's last start.

If any of the mares have sold at public auction, you can find out who bought them here: http://www.bloodhorse.com/auctions-tool/

You can also check equineline.com for progeny. If the mares are being bred, the name of the breeder and state bred will be on the foal's free 5 generation pedigree.

Are you looking for specific mares, or any mares in a specific mare line? If a mare line, you could probably post & then watch your PMs. Lots of us look at TB mares often & can supply information, as we find it . . . I'm always happy to find someone else who will buy a nice mare I've noticed, so I am no longer tempted . . .

Thanks! I have managed to run down a couple of the mares thanks to your suggestions.

Yes, there are some lines we are interested, but we were also interested the progeny of some specific mares.

Next question, where I can find out if a horse has been reported deceased?

I'm heading to the IHF in VA this week, so when I get back, I'll post some of the lines we're looking for.

Log into https://www.registry.jockeyclub.com and check registration status.

Keep in mind a LOT of people never bother sending in a death report.

Log onto the website I linked above, click on "check registration status" and enter the name of the horse.
