Urban Trail Ride through Historic Fredericksburg

Saturday, November 20, 2010 (Rain or Shine*)

9:30am - 12 noon

Fredericksburg, Virginia

(Meet at Old Mill Park on Caroline Street. You will be directed to trailer
parking)

ROUTE: Ride through downtown Fredericksburg, visiting many of the City's
points of interest. The pace for the group will be a walk. We

provide coffee beforehand and after the ride we'll have snacks and drinks
for riders, as well as water for horses. The ride, which is all on

asphalt, should take approximately 2 hours to complete. We will walk
together as a group the entire time.

WHERE & WHEN: Trailer parking is located at Old Mill Park, which is located
on Caroline Street, on the Rappahannock River. The ride

will begin promptly at 9:30am (the Ride waits for no one)! Please be at the
park no later than 9:00am.

*WEATHER: The event is held rain or shine - unless extreme weather. In the
event of extreme weather, listen to Fredericksburg radio

stations for cancellation information or call our cancellation line at
540-372-1086 (hear recording start, press 2 then press 1). Or sign up for

alerts at www.FredericksburgAlert.com to receive an alert via email or on
your mobile device.

REQUIREMENTS: All riders must bring their own horse. Proof of negative
coggins test is required for all horses. No stallions. No

children under 15 years, regardless of experience. All riders 15-18 years
old are required to be accompanied by an adult. Please mark any

horses that have a tendency to kick, with a red ribbon on the tail. Please
note that ride will take place in urban and residential

Fredericksburg. The ride might encounter cars, motorcycles, trains, buses,
or other vehicles, dogs, pedestrians, and a variety of other

typical city sights and sounds. If you or your horse are not of the
temperament to handle these types of situations safely, it is advised that

you do not participate in this Urban Trail Ride.

-- For your safety, we recommend that ALL riders wear helmets. -

REGISTRATION: $15 per horse and rider by November 15th. $20 per horse and
rider after Nov. 15th and on-site. Members of

police mounted units may ride in uniform for free. No refunds will be given
in the event of bad weather. Proceeds from the ride are given to

the Virginia Recreation and Park Society for their scholarship program.

A few years back Old Sturbridge Village in MA. http://www.osv.org/
Opened the facility before the usual time and an Equestrian club got to ride through the old dirt streets and village with their horses...How cool would that be?

It is about an hour away from me and I found out after the fact...

I've done this ride three times now, this year will be my 4th. Always have a blast!
