    Default rebuilding touchdown jesus

So, a couple months ago, touchdown jesus... the (IMHO) abomination in front of the Solid Rock Church in Monroe on I-75 was hit by lightening and burned to the ground.

Now? SRC is rebuilding... see model in the pic. Will be standing on 12' of rock with water flowing down the rocks into the reflection pool.

So now... instead of "GOAL!!"... we get to say "... and it was THIS big!"

Ha I remember seeing the article about the touchdown jesus burning down.. I remember the first time I saw it and was just amazed... well actually it was probably more like WTH?!? On a later trip a friend actually had to get off the highway, find the church, and take photos lol.

Doesn't that put a new twist on the "may the Lord strike me down" idea?!!!!

Shame they didn't read the message that way.

What a cool looking fire, hope no one was injured.

I can't tell if I am happy about this or not.

On one hand I found the thing creepy in its first form but then the charred bug-like remains were even creepier yet somehow satisfying/intriguing/disturbing? The carcass must have provided lots of sermon material.

I find it really really funny that the statue at the church with the creepy contoversial pastor burned down, but the porn shop across the street was left untouched. LOL

Well, he WAS fisherman you know!

The "touchdown" Jesus always brought this to mind.
