I know I'm in, and I'll probably "sponsor" my mom's horses again. Random treats showing up on my mom's door and her reaction was one of my favorite parts of Christmas last year. It was REALLY hard keeping it secret from her until the treats started showing up. Not sure if my sister will be in this year, we'll see!

edit: UGH! I deleted the messages I sent last year with everyone's likes and dislikes! Not going to be fun writing those up again! I have ... let's see ... my three that are here, my retired boy at my mom's, and Mom's seven or so (two new ones coming on Monday) to write up. LOL!

Does it make me a little schitzophrenic if I post to say I'm in?

No....I was trying to come up with a clever poem to post the announcement and didn't get very far with it, so I just posted a vanilla announcement.

This is what I came up with and then got stumped...

Twas two months before Christmas and word on the street
was that whispers were stirring about the horse treats.
Tack catalogs were carried to bathrooms to read
In hopes of sale bargains on cookies to feed.

Now ponies are nestled all snug in their stalls,
With visions of Uncle Jimmy’s big balls
All hoping their names will appear
On a list that the Giant Elf holds dear.

Yeah, he sent me an email.

You know the part where you tell "COTH NAME" and "REAL NAME"?

Yeah, Ted's email said "TED THE PEEP 'HO" and "Theodor a/k/a Zen's Secret ReaZen".

But he did manage to put your mailing adddress in.

Would someone mind posting the specifics? I was actually picturing an exchange involving homemade goodies but it looks like storebought are okay? How much is generally gifted for each horsie elf?

    Thanks --

In general - and feel free to chime in - the idea is an exchange of homemade. But each horse lists their preferences and no nos.

I usually include a range of goodies and something for the human. But it can vary.

    Others?

You go with what works as well as the likes/dislikes of the giftee. You may get an IR horse for which you have a limited choice or you may get a horse like Sarge.... that if it's not breathing, it's good to go.

I discovered, from last year, that my guys LOVE granola bars. But they also sure loved the homemade stud muffin-ish treats. So it's all good.

    It's a fun exchange.

If my match has dogs, I also send along some of my homemade peanut butter dog cookies...

Rumor has it they make dogs twirl and even husbands sample them.
