    Cross-posting from another message board:

    Hi everyone-
I apologize for this OT post-
we are tracking a kill buyer who is in possession of a horse that is
most likely headed to slaughter at one of the plants in the north,
    likely Cavel in Illinois.
This horse is an off track TB who should not be on this rig, the
killer buyer had him at the Shepherdsville KY sale this Monday
(March 14,2005) and refused to sell him back to us.
He then surfaced at the Rushville, IN auction and ran the horse
through the auction there. A legitimate bidder went as high as $500
on this horse and was then outbid by the rig driver himself, who is
tagging along with the killer buyer from Sale to Sale.

We've now lost track. We believe he will be headed to Cavell in
    Dekalb Illinois.

The rig we are looking for is a burgundy cab tractor trailer semi
livestock transport (might possibly be a double decker) with ONTARIO
    license plates.

Please, if any of you are out there anywhere, highways, interstates,
rest stops, auction/livestock yards, anywhere at all, please make a
mental note to be on the lookout for this rig. We are desperately
trying to get this horse back and we need the actual license plate
number and DOT numbers for this rig.

Please, if you can possibly remember, I can be reached at
706.372.2280 or by email goforrags @ yahoo.com (take out spaces),
time is of the essence, Cavell processes again on Monday, so there
is a good chance they will be on the way there this weekend.

They might also stop through other sales, the rig was not full yet,
Sugarcreek OH, Shipshewana IN, Illinois sales, possibly up towards
    Canada.

Thanks very much for your help, it is greatly appreciated.

I'll be at an auction here on Sat...I am not on the logical route for someone headed that direction but rest assured I will check out every burgandy rig at the sale...license plates and all!

If it has Ontario tags, it's headed to Canada.

Unfortunately, there is one located in Illinois. It just opened last year after a fire. I'll email this to my friend who is in quite a few anti-slaughter groups here in Illinois and let her work on it.

I don't understand...if he bought the horse and refused to sell it back, that's his right (even if it's mean and nasty). So did he illegally purchase the horse? Was it stolen? How much is the interested party willing to spend to buy the horse back at another sale? I'd be willing to bet the buyer would be willing to part with it for the right price. More info would be good, as already mentioned by other posters.

With Erin on this one, need a little more info as it sounds like he legitimately bought the horse and therefore, regardless of whether you believe in slaughter or not, can do with it as he pleases?
I have horse to sell to you. Horse good for riding. Can pull cart. Horse good size. Eats carrots and apples. Likes attention. Move head to music. No like opera! You like you buy.

My thoughts would be that he was supposed to pick up a horse and picked up the wrong one, or the horse was sold to him by someone who didn't have the authority to sell it.

I have seen both of those situations occur before. However I do not know the real situation here, just offering possibilities.

If this is a stolen horse has Cavel been contacted? Worth a try! I will cross post on the Illinois board.

Subject: Does anyone know a Dale Haley (sp?) from/in Indi

Anyone know a man named Dale Haley (not sure about the spelling) in
Indiana (southern IN, by Louisville KY possibly) and how to contact
him? He is the kill buyer who took the TB last night.

THIS WOMEN IS TRYING TO FIND THIS MAN SO SHE CAN FIND OUT WHERE THE

I don't know if this helps or not but according to my husband who has his own trucking company ..... (mostly international rail containers business) ..... if it was an Ontario truck they can only pick up horses in the US and can only drop off in Canada. My husband is all to familiar with the slaughter house in Dekalb.... he has contacted the slaughter house and they have an eye out for the horse.
