Default Spin off - Blanket for Great Dane - Foal Blanket?

Spin off from the dog blanket thread - We have a 6 month old great dane blanket - he has already outgrown the large dog blanket - so I am thinking that maybe I should go for a foal blanket -

Anyone out there had/have great danes or similarly large dogs and use a foal blanket - I found this one and think it might do.

I hate to waste the money on a dog blanket that won't fit him long.

I just posted on the other thread about my 120 pound dobie rott that acquired a foal blanket at a late fall show because he was cold. It fit him well and we still have it.

When we had our great dane we were able to order a XXl blanket for ours from the manufacturers who make all of the other sizes. We did it through our local feed store. Can't recall the name of the dog blanket.

    Default Dover Custom Blankets

Dover will order you a custom blanket. I was in the local store one day where they were measuring a Neopolitan Mastiff for a custom blanket. Have no idea what it costs though.

I have a Dane that is fortunately not enormous, because she's a total wimp about the cold and I've had to find her an array of blankets. She's 130 lbs, and I have so far been able to stick with dog blankets (I love Dover's). I don't know if this is true, but I was told by several people that foal blankets don't fit dogs very well because the dimensions are different.

I think it sounds like a plan to me.
Airborne? Oh. Yes, he can take a joke. Once. After that, the joke's on you.

Yeah, my dane is about the same size. I got a pessoa blanket, XXL, and it fits her well. It was a long search, surprised more blankets aren't made for the larger dogs. There are some websites for custom blankets for greyhounds, that can be fitted for danes as well.

I didn't read all the replies, but why not buy something that was made for great danes?

    Here, how about these :

I buy coats from K9apparel for my greyhound, I gave them his measurements and it's a perfect fit, plus nice stuff. Perhaps a little pricey, but I find it worth it.

Wow, great site, thanks!! Those are not nearly as cute as my monogrammed SmartPak pink blanket, but might be just the ticket for my little wimp! Especially that hood--last year I tried to take her for a walk in the snow, and she got so cold and annoyed that we had to get a police escort home (flashing blue lights and all :-))
