Default VIDEO: Carol Lavell - The Gift of Gifted!

This is my latest, thought I'd share it:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fZVZ-2MTHS8

I realize I haven't done many dressage vids, but my collection of 1990s American superhorses would not be complete without a tribute to the great GREAT Hanoverian dressage champion: Gifted!

The Olympics, the World Championships, the World Equestrian Games, the Volvo World Cup, the North American Dressage Championships.... this 17.3hh leviathan not only competed, but MEDALED, in each and every one of them!

His unique and prosperous partnership with Carol Lavell saw them win the 1991 US Dressage Federation's Horse of the Year award, and later a 1997 induction to the USDF Hall of Fame, upon his untimely death.

Here in this clip though, he can be seen during happier times, performing a grand prix exhibition at the 1995 Washington International Horse Show. RIP.

Egads! I'd forgotten, or have come more to appreciate, how well she rode that horse.

I was just talking about Gifted to some people who came to look at one of my horses. He was a magnificent horse, ridden by a beautiful rider and he really bucked the tradition of having no white on the legs. In the old days dressage horses were solid colours but Gifted with those gorgeous, bright stockings heralded a new era of chrome.

Got to love that "G" line

I loved this horse! Carol really knew how to connect with him. And I especially love the size of his head, too, too adorable.

    Thanks for sharing the video.

    Awesome phraseology!

Nice... never actually seen him freestyle.

I LOVE the way he kicks out his front legs during his tempi changes. What an inspiration he was!

Horses are amazing athletes and make no mistake -- they are the stars of the show!
