Default A vent. Big fish, little fish, fish fry.

A brief synopsis of the situation, just a vent:

Owned a horse, sold a horse, had a contract for first refusal, was not contacted. Horse was sold to another.

I came across for sale ad of horse, saw some of the information was wrong or lacking. Contacted the barn, asking for information about the horse’s situation and citing I had additional pedigree information if so desired.

Somehow my concern for my former horse was taken definitely the wrong way. Through email I somehow insulted this person and her establishment evidently. I must say that in all of my 30 plus years of working in the horse business, all be it a minnow in the great sea, I have never come across a more pretentious and defensive correspondence in my life. My concerns were taken as insults…I was told just how wrong I am as the barn said horse is at is one of the best…nicest…all the horses at the barn are so expensive…oh, she is so lucky to be there, despite her incredibly poor breeding.

All I wanted to say, I am going to say here. No need to continue elsewhere.

Lady, I don’t give a rats behind how much your horses cost, how well they are bred, how much better they are than my former horse, truly I don’t. I don’t really care what low opinion you have of myself, my horse’s, their breeding, or lack thereof in your estimation. Amazing you can see me so far down below your nose that I am. If you are as big of a fish as you believe, I don’t want to know anyone else in your ocean.

What I do care about is the horse, formerly mine now yours and is currently for sale, finds a good home. Where someone will love it and not admonish it for its lack of fanciful pedigree. I hope someone will love said animal and not see it just as a commodity, to regret having lost so much money on it as you do. I thought that was where the horse went in the first place prior to you, hence my concern.

Lady, for all your riches and nice horse flesh, you can go get bent. I will stick to the backyard-ian travesties I care for on a daily basis and love dearly…for themselves. Not for their daddy’s blue blood, or the income I stand to derive. We are different horse people entirely and for that I am thankful. Don’t get me wrong, some of my horses are very well bred, some are not. I love them for themselves; it’s different and foreign to you; whom obviously has a small part of them still stuck in high school that finds it a necessity to exist in a supercilious state.

Perhaps, you were overly defensive to my query because something inside hit a bell that rang true? Or maybe you are just another wealthy snob whom truly believes all is beneath them, unless six figures are attached. Whatever the case, I am sure people whom know you think you are a real pain in the rear. I bet that people moan, groan, then buck-up when having to deal with you.

You, dear lady, are exactly the reason I will no longer play horse games with horse people in horse places. I will stick to my insignificant to you achievements, in my arena, in my world. And if you ever showed up in my little world, I would kick you the hell out of it.

    BRAVO!!!

I do hope your former horse finds a loving home. I hate hearing a person disparage a horse due to it's pedigree. Horses really do not read papers before copulating or being bred by a turkey baster. Now, disparaging short-sighted, barn-blind breeders? That's right up my ally, but that's for an entirely different kind of thread.

This is one of those times a "like" button would be useful!

    Well said.

Small fish in small pond works fine for me too.
Big fish get eaten by sharks.

I have an acquaintance who owns Morgans.
    Lots of Morgans.
Lots of Morgans who reside in a different state than Acquaintance.
Lots of Morgans in various states of training by various "Pros".
Lots of Morgans who are costing him a pile of money.
Lots of Morgans he rarely sees, never cuddles and are mainly an Investment, not pets.

When he asks to talk horses with me, I tell him we have so little in common it isn't worth discussing.

    Send that email!
I'll add my $1 to the incentive fund

Forget outing the lady, you should out yourself! Don't let this vent fall into the category of literature's great anonymous work.
