    Default HT points

So, I am new at the whole eventing thing and I have a question:

Do the points that you earn in the fall carry over to the spring? Or do they start over every spring?

How does the point system work?!

I assume you are talking about USEA recognized?

The points for USEA and area awards follow the membership year (December 1 through November 30). So no, they don't carry over.

However if you are talking about qualifications for events such as the AECs and area championships, the qualification period is usually around the date of last year's event until the current year's event.

    Yes and no.

"Grading points" (which only apply at Prelim and above) accumulate for the life of the horse.

But "leaderboard points" (used for year end awards) start over Dec 1 each year.

Qualifications (which are not based on points, per se) are different, and a lot more complicated.
