You are significantly better rounded than I. I have lots of Aliases and NCISs, because they are what I run to every morning. Only movie I have is How to Train Your Dragon. Saw it on a flight, cute as a button. The dragon looks a lot like my dog really.

    Cool thread idea!

I tend to watch a lot of documentaries and foreign films, and some TV series DVDs. The upcoming 10 are:

    Ghosts of Rwanda: Frontline
    Malcolm X
To Die in Jerusalem (documentary about the Rachel Levy/Ayat al-Akhras deaths during the latter's 2002 suicide bombing in Jerusalem).
United States of Tara: Season 1: Disc 1
United States of Tara: Season 1: Disc 2
Lords of Dogtown (watching this because Heath Ledger is in it. What else can I say? )
Control Room (documentary about Al Jazeera)
    Sicko
Emmanuel's Gift (documentary about a disabled Ghanan)
    The Pianist

I also have all seasons of The Wire (whew - will be a lot to work through!), Psych, Criminal Minds, and the 2nd season onwards of All Creatures Great and Small in my queue as well.

Are we talking DVD or instant queue?

DVD: (god only knows if I'll ever actually get these, I've had my current DVD for at least 4 months... I mostly use the streaming)

    1. In the Land of Women
    2. Thank You for Smoking (this one's a rewatch- GREAT movie!)
    3. The Science of Sleep
    4. Happiness
    5. Hedwig and the Angry Inch
    6. Night on Earth
    7. Mysterious Skin
    8. Treasures of the Twilight Zone
    9. The Squid and the Whale
    10. Stranger than Paradise

    Instant Queue
    1. Deliver Us From Evil
    2. Delicatessen (LOVE this movie)
    3. THX 1138
    4. Being John Malkovich
    5. Phoebe In Wonderland
    6. South Park Season 7
    7. Wild Strawberries
    8. 30 Rock Season 3
    9. Waiting for Armageddon
    10. Glass: Portrait in Twelve Parts

    I watch weird things.

For others who like weird things: I watched Brief Interviews With Hideous Men the other night. It's John Krasinski's directorial debut, an adaptation of a book by the same name. It's very... raw... in parts, but I thoroughly enjoyed it.

My SO and I created a queue of documentaries focused on the history of America from when man first inhabited the continent (origins and migration patterns) until recent events (we're trying our best to maintain some semblance of a chronological order). The documentaries provide an overview and allow us to discover history topics we would like to further delve into through reading books. After watching a particularly good Lewis and Clark documentary, we were enthralled with their journey and lives and so purchased more detailed books on the subject. We have 237 more DVDs to go...I think we'll have to keep updating the more recent end of the history track by the time we approach the end of that list. But I think it shows that Netflix is one good source of documentaries (at the very least convenient).

Current Top Ten in Netflix Queue:

    Lewis and Clark: The Journey
    History Channel: War 0f 1812 Disc 1 and 2
    Cruising America's Waterways: Erie Canal
When Giants Roamed: Golden Age of Steam
    Remember the Alamo
The U.S. Mexican War Discs 1-2
Ken Burns' The West Discs 1-5
    American Experinece: Jesse James
Butch Cassidy and the Outlaw Trail
Tales of the Gun: Guns of Smith & Wesson

OK, I OWN some of the ones on your hubby's list. Remind him about Weekend at Bernies.

And for a family flick, I can't rave about The Secret of Roan Innish.

I haven't yet, actually! It's been sitting in my queue for a while (I have... erm... a grand total of 204 DVDs on the list), but after your comment I'll be sure to bump it up! Thanks!

Lazy Palomino Hunter - I've seen Delicatessen too! Definitely very quirky and I like Amelie much better, but it was still a weirdly entertaining film.

We are illiterate slobs fully enjoying a mindless summer!

We returned Get Smart and 500 Days of Summer arrived today. Not sure what comes next.

Since I am the meanie that won't get cable we have turned our brains to jelly this hot summer watching such stimulating fare as:

    Say Yes to the Dress
    Cake Boss
Avatar - 1 child somewhat obsessed
    The Office
    30 Rock
    Various Disney/Nick Dreck
    Legend of the Seeker

Streaming through the Wii was the best thing ever!
