Default Rules Gurus - Signing the Trainer Blank

Show secretary says only someone with a USEF number can sign the trainer blank for a USEA HT entry. Horse and rider are going Training. Rider is a junior. Mom wants to sign the trainer blank. Show secretary won't accept it. I am bewildered. Training is not a USEF recognized level, so why should the "trainer" have to be a member?

    What am I missing here?

All I know is that I sign the trainer blank for myself as an amateur. I have a USEA number but not a USEF number, so I leave the USEF number space blank. I compete through Training and it has never been an issue.

    Default Trainer USEF member?

The secretary is wrong. See GR 404.1.

Thanks all. A friend of mine is a show sec and SHE found GR 404 in the rule book. Will let the mom know and make a copy of the page for her to take to the office on Friday.

Here is the link to the USEA spreadsheet of the various membership requirements for membership and horse registration, including USEA and USEF requirements.

You might also want to point the parent 1309.1.c
When an entry is under a minor’s ownership and training, the parent
who must sign will be exempt from the Federation non-member fee

Ooh, thanks for this info! I left the trainer area blank, but now I know I should have signed it for myself. Or perhaps have the horse sign it since she thinks she's in charge anyhow.
