    Default A psyllium question...

For those that feed psyllium purge, is there an expiration on the containers? Only asking because I may need to do a purge on a horse and what is at the local feed stores I'm sure is old since sand impaction isn't common here (but I may be the lucky one dealing with it). Didn't know if psyllium husks truly expired or not. Thank you in advance!

It's a mechanical action, not a medical one, that makes the stuff work. So it isn't like the ingredients lose effectiveness. However, I'd think it could go "bad" as in, become rancid. But if it smells OK, I'd use it.
