    Default equitation help

I need ideas on how to keep my upper body still in front of fences. I have a nasty habit of sitting deep in my saddle, shoving my upper body foward and back, and rounding my lower back.

The key to fixing this is to understand *why* you do it. My guess is that you are trying to "create" some energy in front of the jump to encourage him (her) to leave the ground (?)

If so, the fix is obviously to get the horse frankly in front of your leg, carrying you to the base of the jump, so you can focus on staying still and supporting with your leg.

thanks! but its more like a habit. I see I am 3 strides out and then rock back and pump. I even do it in front of small jumps. My horse is very scopey and brave. I need to find an exercise that will fix me!!!!!!!!!!!!

Take a lot of lessons with a trainer that will keep reminding you of your habit.

Have you do some gymnastics and ground pole work in two point.

One exersize I did on my own was I set up a jump course of ground poles.. I would ride the course in two point telling myself "they are ONLY poles on the ground - DO NOTHING".

And like Lucassb says, horse MUST be in front of your leg. I have also been told get your balance and pace in the corners and then chill on the approach to the jump...

But I still would vote for you taking lots of lessons.......

Did I already say take lessons?? LOL
