I still can't figure it out. It almost looks like it's the top of a fake tail that has poked out somehow but that would be an incredibly long fake tail.

Sansibar - that's exactly the tail I noticed! I was admiring all the lovely braid jobs and that one just looked odd in among all the others. I couldn't imagine he would have rubbed it and not had it fixed immediately - so I was wondering if it was some new tail fashion!

Midge, you have to look at the video after he left the ring. Have you ever seen Barton Fink? I was having flashbacks.

You're not kidding. I would have never noticed the tail. I'm far too distracted by the amazing knees, back, face, ears... That's one heck of a horse!!! WOW!

Well, I finally looked at the video and frankly still can't tell what was going on. My best guess is they put a lot of yarn at the top of the hair to tie in a bunch of short hairs and that yarn has pulled out. It looks like the very top is bald.
Just glad I wasn't the one who had to figure out how to make that look good.

My sympathies were totally with the braider, that's for sure.
I know I'm battling skin funk non-stop this summer and my vet mentioned it was about as bad as she had seen it with everyone. I'm sure we are not in some space/time warp where this crappy summer affects only us, so I could see where tails might be looking more ragged than normal.

All these funky tail talks remind me of the WP class where the Champ mare reached back and pulled her fake tail off right after getting out of the ring. We all about died laughing watching the kid carry the ribbon and the mare carrying her tail back to the stalls.

Yes, I thought that, too!
The women must have had a footwear challenge- formal, but suitable for walking the course.

I know it's already been established that it wasn't Sander you were thinking of, but I can assure you that he has a lovely tail, even more so when braided. We try not to braid our tails too much so that by the time we get to indoors the tail braid will look just as nice as it did at WEF.

Wait, they make tail braid toupees? How? Do they just take stuff from a fake tail and pull it up??
