Looking for the right rider to free lease my 7 yr old appendix QH gelding. He's 15.3, bay and very sweet. Although he's pretty quiet and sane, he's not suitable for a beginner. He can be fresh under saddle at times...specifically when you first get on. He will occasionally crowhop (in place) if you get on and poke him with a heel/spur. Doesn't do it all the time (especially when he's in regular work) and it's not hard to ride through, but it rules him out as a beginner horse (which is unfortunate because otherwise he's perfect for beginners). Once he walks around the ring once or twice he settles right into work. Well broke on the flat, jumps around small courses with lead changes (want to limit him to 2'3" and under - just because he's not scopey or athletic enough to do much more). Loves working in the open - great on hunter paces and trail rides...might make a nice low level foxhunter or eventer. Can be turned out with other geldings (gets too attached to mares), self loads, clips, stands for farrier, etc - just an overall good guy. Easy keeper.
He'd be a good horse for someone just looking for a fun guy to do a bit of everything with. I have two horses and unfortunately not enough time to keep both in work. Preference given to on-farm lease (in Ellington, CT with lovely indoor, etc) - on-farm lessee would only need to pay for grain/hay/shavings which is minimal. Off-farm available locally to perfect situation. Please pm for photos/videos/questions/info.
