Default Anyone Make Their Own Hoof Packing?

This might be a little off the wall, but does anyone make their own hoof packing. I'm half tempted to try adding a little cayenne powder to venice turpentine and I'm thinking it wouldn't take too much cayenne. Is anyone willing to share a recipe?

Just be careful with the cayenne as it is capsaicin and will test. I am not sure if it is a level or a pressence test, but in theory, particularly if you are using things with drawing properties, you could fail a pressence test. So if you do USEF shows (or other shows with drugs and medications regulations) you will need to be careful when using this recipe at shows.

Epsom salts, 1 or 2% iodine, and glycerin. Just enough of the liquids to bind the salt a little. It's worked well for my horses.

Sometimes we mix DMSO and epsom salt. Just add enough DMSO so you can scoop the mixture up on a tongue depressor thing and smoosh it in the foot and then vetrap and duct tape it.

I like just plain ole magnapaste or a mixture of DMSO/epsom salt/furacin. Both work well for general sole soreness or to draw out an abcess.

1 part Epsom salts. 1 pt bran. Mix with iodine/betadine. Clean and pick hoof. coat with icthamol followed with packing with bran mix. Bandage or wrap. Works great for sore hot hooves in the FL heat.
