This gorgeous, sweet boy is 6 years old and 17hh, located in the Triad area of NC. His owner is retiring from the business and needs to find him a home. He unfortunately cannot be sold as the show horse prospect it was intended for him to be, so it is preferred to give him away to a forever, loving home rather than sell him cheaply.
He is sound for w/t when kept in work consistently. It is the opinion of two different veterinarians that he may have OCD, although this has never been proven with diagnostic testing. The recommendation is for a full and complete body scan to narrow down the possibilities of the unsoundness issues, but his owner is unable to provide that option for him at this time. It is entirely possible with proper diagnosis and treatment that he can improve well beyond his current status. It has been suggested that some of the problem may simply be muscle memory – he has moved in the same way for so long that even with injections he still maintains a bit of a “hitch.” He is otherwise in excellent condition – the photos and video in the links below accurately depict his current condition and movement.
Recent treatment protocols have included stifle injections, chiropractic care (routine for over one year), supplements, special shoeing, and Adequan.
He is a wonderful pasture pal, very sweet natured and loves people! His good looks and debonair charms lead us to believe that he could easily be a “model horse” for one of the many equestrian catalogs.
As handsome as he may be, he is NOT for a beginner rider as he can be spooky. With a confident rider and regular work it is not generally a problem. He has a smart and willing mind with a strong foundation and excellent work ethic
